Best Grok Rank Tracker Tool in 2026: 10 Options Compared on Evidence

The best Grok rank tracker tool options compared on nine criteria: Trakkr, Promptmonitor, LLMrefs, Rankscale, Rankability, Mangools, Pro Rank Tracker, Orchly, AthenaHQ and Prime, sorted by how each gives you Grok. Verified Oct 3, 2026.

Short answer: the best Grok rank tracker tool is the one that checks Grok often enough to catch answers that move with X. Of ten options reviewed on October 3, 2026, Trakkr runs Grok daily and splits X-sourced from web-sourced answers ($100 a month); Promptmonitor includes Grok at $29 with twice-weekly refreshes; Rankability shows which pages earned the citation ($97); Mangools has a free plan that names Grok. Prime AI Visibility does not track Grok.

This guide is for marketing and SEO leads at B2B companies whose buyers use Grok, inside X or at grok.com, and who need to know whether it names or cites them before they choose a tracker. Prime AI Visibility is built by Pyra, the publisher of this page; it is held to the same nine criteria and placed last because it does not query Grok. Prices are the monthly figures each vendor displayed on October 3, 2026; "not published" means the page did not say, not that the feature is absent. We did not run paid trials for this comparison.

How each option gives you Grok, from vendor pages reviewed October 3, 2026. Diagram by Pyra.

How Grok answers, and why cadence and source type are the first two criteria

Grok does not rank pages. xAI's product page says Grok "searches the web and 𝕏 live" and returns "live citations from primary sources across the web" (x.ai/grok). In the xAI API the same behaviour is exposed as two tools: web_search and x_search, and the model "returns the final response with citations where applicable" (xAI tools overview). The X Search tool performs keyword, semantic, user and thread search on X (xAI X Search documentation). Grok is free to try on the web and in the apps, with higher limits on SuperGrok.

Two consequences for choosing the best Grok rank tracker tool. First, answers can change when a thread trends, so a weekly snapshot can miss the move; check frequency is a real criterion here, not a nice-to-have. Second, a Grok citation can be a web page or an X post, and the fix is different for each: a page you can rewrite, a post you can only respond to. A tracker that shows the exact cited source, and ideally labels it web or X, tells you which problem you have. Several of the vendors below describe this; Trakkr and Orchly state it most directly. Published estimates of how often Grok cites X posts disagree widely, as Orchly's September 2026 roundup notes, which is another reason to track both your site and your X presence rather than assume one.

How we evaluated each Grok rank tracker tool

Nine criteria, applied to every option from its own public pages.

Nine evaluation criteria and the question each one answers
    CriterionThe question it answers
Engine coverageIs Grok actually queried, on which plan, and how often?
Mention vs citationDoes it separate 'Grok named you' from 'Grok linked to your page'?
Exact cited sourceCan you see which URL or X post Grok cited, yours or a competitor's?
History and trendAre answers preserved per run so a change can be dated?
Competitor comparisonDoes it record who was named or cited when you were not?
Question trackingCan you track your own buyer questions, not only a vendor's prompt sample?
Reporting, export, APICan the evidence leave the tool?
Pricing transparencyIs the price, including Grok, on the public page?
Diagnosis to actionDoes it help you fix the miss, or only report it?

    Profiles

    Grok access: Entry plan

    Trakkr

Best for: Teams that want Grok checked daily with X posts and web pages reported as separate source types.

Grok on the page: Grok included on every plan; daily runs; X-sourced and web-sourced answers separated.

Engines: Eight models on all plans, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI. History: Daily runs with alerts when answers shift; the page sample shows a seven-day window. Competitors: Competitor citation changes raise alerts; recommendation rank is shown per prompt.

Question tracking: Your own prompts: 50 per brand on Growth. Reporting: Exports, shareable reports and MCP access listed on the pricing page. Pricing: Growth $100 a month ($1,000 a year) for one brand; Scale $500 a month for ten brands; 14-day trial; free no-signup Grok preview.

Workflow: 25 articles a month, site optimization and 'Citations & Perception' are part of the plan; the no-signup checker returns a preview based on public content.

Strength: The only page in this set that separates X-sourced from web-sourced Grok answers, which matters because Grok reads live X posts.

Limitation: Entry price is higher than Promptmonitor or LLMrefs, and the free checker is a preview, not the daily tracker.

Verify before relying on it: That the X-versus-web split appears per cited source in the real dashboard, not only in the marketing sample.

    Grok access: Entry plan

    Promptmonitor

Best for: Small teams that want Grok in a cheap multi-engine tracker and can live with two refreshes a week.

Grok on the page: Grok included on the $29 Starter plan; twice-weekly refresh.

Engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini (plus AI Overview and AI Mode per the FAQ), DeepSeek, Grok, Perplexity. History: Twice-weekly refresh on Starter, with weekly email reports. Competitors: Not published on the pricing page.

Question tracking: 25 prompts and 2,250 responses a month on Starter. Reporting: CSV export, weekly email reports, website and AI crawler analytics. Pricing: Starter $29 a month billed yearly or $49 monthly; 7-day free trial.

Workflow: Reporting only on the page reviewed.

Strength: Grok is included on the $29 entry plan with twice-weekly refreshes, and the engine list is spelled out next to the price.

Limitation: Twice a week is a slow cadence for an engine that reads live X posts, and citation detail is not described.

Verify before relying on it: Whether the dashboard shows the exact URL Grok cited, and how Grok runs are counted against the 2,250 monthly responses.

    Grok access: Entry plan

    LLMrefs

Best for: Marketing teams that want one flat price with Grok included and keyword-style brand rankings.

Grok on the page: xAI Grok is among the engines shown on the single $79 plan.

Engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Mode, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI, Gemini and Perplexity are shown as engine logos. History: Not published on the pricing page. Competitors: Brand rankings compare visibility of all brands for a keyword.

Question tracking: Keyword and prompt sets per project; the preview shows 25 prompts for a sample keyword. Reporting: CSV export and shareable rankings in the preview. Pricing: All in One $79 a month, 7-day free trial; the page labels it 'limited time only'.

Workflow: Reporting only on the page reviewed.

Strength: One plan, one price, Grok included, with a sources view and CSV export visible on the public page.

Limitation: Refresh cadence and answer history are not stated on the pricing page.

Verify before relying on it: How often Grok prompts refresh, and whether past answers are kept so a change can be dated.

    Source: llmrefs.com/pricing (reviewed October 3, 2026).

    Grok access: Entry plan

    Rankscale

Best for: Teams that want to choose Grok's check frequency themselves, from hourly to monthly.

Grok on the page: Grok is listed among the engines on all plans; usage is credit-based.

Engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok, Copilot 'and more'. History: Scheduling is hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, limited by credits. Competitors: Brand dashboards per tracked brand.

Question tracking: Your own search terms; Pro tracks up to 4,800 answers a month. Reporting: Dashboards and Looker Studio on Pro; REST API from Pro+. Pricing: Entry plan from $20 a month ($17 on yearly billing); Pro $99 with 1,200 credits and a 7-day trial; Pro+ $229.

Workflow: Reporting only on the page reviewed.

Strength: The widest cadence control in this set, which suits Grok's fast-moving answers, plus an API at Pro+.

Limitation: Credit pricing makes the real cost of frequent Grok checks hard to read from the page.

Verify before relying on it: How many credits a single Grok check costs, and whether cited URLs are stored per answer.

    Grok access: Entry plan

    Rankability Grok rank tracker

Best for: SEO teams and agencies that already run Rankability and want Grok citations tracked by page.

Grok on the page: Dedicated Grok tracker inside Rankability; scans on a daily, weekly or custom schedule.

Engines: Grok, with other engines covered by separate Rankability trackers. History: Snapshots on your schedule 'over days, weeks, and months'. Competitors: Every scan captures all brands Grok mentions in its response.

Question tracking: Any keyword, question or natural-language prompt. Reporting: Standard reports on Starter per the pricing page. Pricing: Starter $97 a month, Agency $297, Agency Pro $497; no free tier shown.

Workflow: Rankability's wider platform covers content; the Grok page itself is monitoring.

Strength: Clear language on the two things that matter most for Grok: which of your pages earned the citation and which competitor domains Grok linked to instead.

Limitation: No free tier or trial is shown, and Grok is one tracker among several rather than a cross-engine view.

Verify before relying on it: How Grok scans count against Starter's capacity limits, and whether X posts appear as cited sources.

    Grok access: Entry plan

    Mangools AI Search Watcher

Best for: Solo marketers who want a free weekly Grok check on a handful of prompts.

Grok on the page: Grok is among the eight LLMs named on the page; the Free plan lists the same eight.

Engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Mistral, Llama. History: Weekly monitor updates with weekly or monthly email reports. Competitors: Not published on the page.

Question tracking: Free: 5 prompts, 1 monitor; Pro: 500 prompts, unlimited monitors. Reporting: Email reports; API and MCP included on every plan. Pricing: Free plan with no card; Pro $34.90 a month on yearly billing ($418.80 a year).

Workflow: Reporting only on the page reviewed.

Strength: A genuinely free plan that names Grok, with API and MCP access even at the free level.

Limitation: Weekly cadence and five prompts; exact cited URLs are not described.

Verify before relying on it: That Grok can be selected on the Free plan's monitor, and what the report shows per cited source.

    Grok access: Entry plan

    Pro Rank Tracker Grok tracker

Best for: Agencies on a classic rank tracker that want Grok mentions and citations reported next to Google positions.

Grok on the page: Dedicated Grok tracker with daily tracking; pricing is on a separate page.

Engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, Grok, alongside traditional search results. History: Daily tracking; 'see how your rankings shift over time'. Competitors: Not published on the Grok page.

Question tracking: Your own queries, tracked daily. Reporting: Automated reports are the product's core feature. Pricing: Not shown on the Grok page; the pricing page did not load for our check.

Workflow: Reporting only on the page reviewed.

Strength: Daily Grok tracking from an established rank tracker, useful if your client reports already come from it.

Limitation: The Grok page says little about cited sources or competitors, and pricing has to be checked separately.

Verify before relying on it: Pricing, and whether the exact cited URL is stored for each Grok answer.

    Source: proranktracker.com/grok-tracker (reviewed October 3, 2026).

Grok access: Add-on or higher tier

    Orchly

Best for: Teams that want Grok tracked next to ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Perplexity with content agents to act on gaps.

Grok on the page: Grok is an on-demand paid add-on to the $49 Essential plan; a free no-signup single-prompt Grok check exists.

Engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overview and Perplexity in the base plan; Gemini, AI Mode, Grok and Claude as paid add-ons. History: 25 prompts refreshed daily on Essential. Competitors: Competitor leaderboard and Mention Gap (sources that mention competitors but not you).

Question tracking: 25 prompts on Essential; prompts are labelled by brand and intent. Reporting: Not published on the pricing page. Pricing: Essential $49 a month ($37 yearly) plus the Grok add-on, whose price is not shown; Pro $125.

Workflow: Article creation and refresh (20 on Essential) and page audits are in the plan.

Strength: The free check needs no signup and returns Grok's response with citations and competitors for one prompt; the paid tracker shows the X posts Grok cites.

Limitation: Grok costs extra on top of the base plan and the add-on price is not published; the free tool scrapes a single response, so it is a spot check.

Verify before relying on it: The Grok add-on price, and how the headless-browser method handles Grok's personalised or logged-in answers.

Source: orchly.ai/pricing and the Grok tracker page (reviewed October 3, 2026).

Grok access: Add-on or higher tier

    AthenaHQ

Best for: Marketing teams that want many engines, Grok included, with an action list, and have the budget.

Grok on the page: Grok is on the $295 Starter plan; the free Essential tier does not include it.

Engines: Free: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot. Starter adds AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. History: Credit-based runs; cadence depends on credits. Competitors: Competitor comparison is a listed feature.

Question tracking: Your own prompts, credit-based. Reporting: Not published on the pricing page. Pricing: Essential Free with $25 of credit; Starter $295 a month with $300 a month of credit; Enterprise custom.

Workflow: An Action Center is listed on paid plans.

Strength: Broad engine list once you are on Starter, with Grok included at that tier.

Limitation: The free tier that appears in searches for a free Grok tracker does not query Grok.

Verify before relying on it: Credits consumed per Grok run on Starter, and whether exact cited URLs are stored per answer.

    Source: athenahq.ai/pricing (reviewed October 3, 2026).

Grok access: Does not track Grok

    Prime AI Visibility (Pyra)

Best for: The fix layer after a Grok tracker shows a miss: named-versus-cited evidence on the other engines and a page draft built from the saved answers.

Grok on the page: Five engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview; Grok is not one of them.

Engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity on the free Flash plan; Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview on paid plans. Grok is not offered. History: Saved answers per check; exact answer history on the Agency plan. Competitors: Cited website and competitor evidence per question.

Question tracking: Your own buyer questions: 5 on Flash, 25 on Starter, 50 on Growth, 120 on Agency. Reporting: PDF and CSV reporting; exports from saved data do not use credits. Pricing: Flash free (30 credits, one check a month); Starter $69; Growth $179; Agency $369; Enterprise $1,499.

Workflow: Content gap recommendations and source-enriched Word drafts from the saved answers.

Strength: Keeps the exact answer, the named-or-cited result and the cited URLs for every question, then drafts the page that should close the gap.

Limitation: Does not query Grok, so it cannot be your Grok tracker; it is listed here because the same buyer questions usually need checking on the engines it does cover.

Verify before relying on it: Nothing Grok-specific to verify; pair it with one of the Grok trackers above.

    Free and manual Grok checks

Three free routes exist, and they answer different questions. Mangools AI Search Watcher's Free plan tracks five prompts weekly and lists Grok among its engines, which is the only free recurring tracker in this set. Orchly's and Trakkr's no-signup checkers return one Grok response or one domain preview, which settles "does Grok name us for this question today" and nothing more. The third route is Grok itself: write 10 to 25 buyer questions the way a prospect types them, ask each in a new conversation, and log four fields: named (your brand in the text), cited (a link to your page), the exact URL or X post cited, and the competitor source cited instead. Repeat on the same weekday each week. Three weeks of that log is more decision-useful than one visibility score, and it is the same evidence structure Prime stores automatically for the engines it covers. The procedure for Perplexity is written up in our Perplexity rank tracker guide, the Bing-grounded version in the Copilot rank tracker comparison, and the free-tier version for Claude in the free Claude rank tracker guide.

If your team is also putting Grok to work internally, the Pyra Grok Bot page covers how we deploy Grok as a teammate with approval gates; the same question list you track here is a good starting brief for it.

What was left out, and why

Several tools that appear in searches for a Grok rank tracker did not name Grok on their own pages on October 3, 2026. Ahrefs Brand Radar's page lists AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and AI Mode; other roundups say Grok was added in April 2026, but the page we reviewed did not say so, so it is not in the table. Peec AI's pricing page offers "choose 3 models" on its plans and "up to 13 LLM models" on Enterprise without naming Grok. Profound's free trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and its Enterprise tier says "up to 9 answer engines" without listing them. Beamtrace, which ranks first for this query, publishes conflicting statements: its Grok tracker page says "Grok today; ChatGPT, Gemini, and more coming soon", its own roundup lists Grok as coming soon, and its pricing page (Starter $24 a month, 14-day trial) does not name engines; confirm on the trial before paying. Orchly's roundup reports that Otterly.AI, Nightwatch, SE Ranking, Scrunch and Knowatoa did not list Grok on their pricing pages as of September 2026; we did not re-check those five.

From a Grok miss to a cited page

A tracker tells you Grok cited someone else. The fix depends on what it cited. If the source was a web page, run the loop Pyra uses for clients and that Percepture's generative engine optimization services describe: confirm your page is publicly accessible, compare it with the exact URL in the observed answer on directness and dated specifics, publish the page that answers the question in its first paragraph, and recheck on the same schedule. If the source was an X post, the page fix still matters, but the faster lever is a post from your own account that answers the question with a link to that page. Prime's Content Fix step drafts the page from the saved answer and flags any claim that needs proof before export, for the engines Prime covers; Pyra's digital infrastructure case study shows the measured result of running the loop. The ChatGPT SEO analysis tools guide applies this same evidence standard to ChatGPT, and for a wider market list see Percepture's AI visibility tools comparison.

Best Grok rank tracker tool: questions buyers ask

What is the best Grok rank tracker tool?

It depends on cadence and budget. Of the pages reviewed on October 3, 2026, Trakkr runs Grok daily and separates X-sourced from web-sourced answers from $100 a month; Promptmonitor includes Grok on a $29 plan with twice-weekly refreshes; Rankability's Grok tracker shows which pages earned citations and which competitor domains Grok linked to from $97 a month; Rankscale lets you set hourly to monthly checks on credits. Mangools AI Search Watcher has a free plan that names Grok.

Is there a free Grok rank tracker?

Three kinds. Mangools AI Search Watcher's Free plan monitors five prompts weekly and lists Grok among its eight LLMs. Orchly and Trakkr both offer a no-signup Grok check for a single prompt or domain, which is a spot check rather than tracking. And Grok itself is free to try on the web and in the apps, so you can ask your buyer questions and log the citations by hand.

    Does Grok cite sources?

Yes. xAI's Grok page says Grok searches the web and X live and returns 'live citations from primary sources across the web'. In the xAI API, the web_search and x_search tools return responses 'with citations where applicable'. A Grok tracker should show those cited URLs and X posts, not only whether your brand was named.

Why does check frequency matter for Grok tracking?

Grok can search live X posts as well as the web. xAI's X Search tool performs keyword, semantic, user and thread search on X. Choose a check frequency that fits the buyer questions and events you monitor, and compare the cited sources across checks. These sources do not establish that Grok answers change faster than ChatGPT answers.

Does Prime AI Visibility track Grok?

No. As of October 3, 2026, primeaivisibility.com lists five tools: ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity on the free Flash plan, with Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview on paid plans. Use one of the Grok trackers above for the Grok read and Prime for the named-versus-cited evidence and content fix on the engines it covers.
