Best Free Claude Rank Tracker Tool in 2026: What Is Actually Free
The best free Claude rank tracker tool options compared on nine criteria. Only two of nine reviewed run Claude checks without payment; the rest are trials or free tiers that leave Claude out. Verified Oct 3, 2026.
Short answer: the best free Claude rank tracker tool depends on what "free" has to mean. Of the nine options whose pages we reviewed on October 3, 2026, only two run Claude checks without payment: Prime AI Visibility's Flash plan, which runs five of your buyer questions through ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity once a month and keeps the answers with their source URLs, and LucidRank's no-signup audit. Everything else is a time-limited trial, or a free tier that leaves Claude out.
This guide is for marketing and SEO leads at B2B companies who have noticed Claude in sales conversations and want to know whether it names or cites them before committing budget. Prime is built by Pyra, the publisher of this page, so it is held to the same nine criteria as everyone else and its limits are stated in its own row. Prices are the monthly figures each vendor displayed on October 3, 2026; "not published" means the page did not say, not that the feature is absent. We did not run paid trials for this comparison.

How Claude cites, and why a free tracker has to show the source
Claude does not rank pages. Anthropic's help centre says Claude "invokes a search tool" when a question benefits from current information, and that when it does, "every response includes citations" (Enable and use web search). Claude can also answer without web search; a brand mention is not the same as a cited source. Record whether the observed answer used web search and which exact pages it cited rather than treating a Google position as a Claude citation. Web search has been available on all Claude plans, including free, since May 27, 2025 (Anthropic announcement).
Two consequences for choosing the best free Claude rank tracker tool: a single "visibility score" hides whether you were named or cited, and a tracker that does not show the exact cited URL cannot tell you which page to change. Those are the first two criteria below.
How we evaluated each free Claude rank tracker tool
Nine criteria, applied to every option from its own public pages.
| Criterion | The question it answers |
|---|---|
| Claude in the free tier | Does the free plan or tool query Claude itself, or only a trial, or not at all? |
| Named vs cited | Does it separate your brand appearing in the answer text from your page being linked as a source? |
| Exact cited source | Can you see which URL Claude cited, yours or a competitor's? |
| History and trend | Are answers preserved per run so a change can be dated? |
| Competitor comparison | Does it record who was named or cited when you were not? |
| Question tracking | Can you track your own buyer questions, not only a vendor's prompt sample? |
| Reporting, export, API | Can the evidence leave the tool? |
| Pricing transparency | Is the price on the public page? |
| Diagnosis to action | Does it help you fix the miss, or only report it? |

The zero-cost method: use Claude itself as the tracker
If no tool fits, the free Claude plan is a usable tracker for a small question set. Write 10 to 25 buyer questions the way a prospect types them. Ask each in a new conversation with web search on, and log four fields: named (your brand in the text), cited (a link to your page), the exact URL cited, and the competitor URL cited instead. Repeat on the same weekday each week. Three weeks of that log is more decision-useful than one visibility score, and it is exactly the evidence structure Prime stores automatically. The same procedure, applied to Perplexity, is written up in our Perplexity rank tracker guide, the Bing-grounded version in the Copilot rank tracker comparison, and the X-grounded version in the Grok rank tracker guide.
What was left out, and why
Several free tools that appear for this query do not query Claude. HubSpot's AI Search Grader is a free one-time check across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, and HubSpot's page says it reports what those models say "based on their training data" (hubspot.com/aeo-grader). Ahrefs Brand Radar and SE Ranking's AI visibility checker did not name Claude among their engines on October 3, 2026. Peec AI mentions Claude only as an MCP integration target, not as a tracked engine. Rankscale lists Claude among 17+ engines but publishes no free plan, with paid plans from $99 a month; it would qualify for a paid roundup, not this one.
From a Claude miss to a cited page
A tracker tells you Claude cited someone else. The fix is the same loop Pyra runs for clients and that Percepture's generative engine optimization services describe: confirm the page is publicly accessible, compare your page with the exact URL cited in the observed answer on directness and dated specifics, publish the page that answers the question in its first paragraph, and recheck on the same schedule. Prime's Content Fix step drafts that page from the saved answer and flags any claim that needs proof before export; Pyra's digital infrastructure case study shows the measured result of running the loop. If your team builds on Anthropic models, the Pyra Claude agent page covers how we deploy Claude with approval gates, and the ChatGPT SEO analysis tools guide applies this same evidence standard to ChatGPT. For a wider market list, see Percepture's AI visibility tools comparison.
Best free Claude rank tracker tool: questions buyers ask
What is the best free Claude rank tracker tool?
Of the options reviewed on October 3, 2026, two run Claude checks without payment: Prime AI Visibility's Flash plan (five buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, one check a month, with saved answers and source URLs) and LucidRank's no-signup audit across ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. Promptmonitor, LLMrefs, Otterly and Nightwatch offer time-limited trials. AthenaHQ's free plan and Profound's free trial do not include Claude.
Can I track Claude rankings for free by hand?
Yes. Web search is available on all Claude plans, including free, and Claude shows citations when it searches. Ask each buyer question in a fresh conversation, record whether your brand was named, whether a page of yours was linked, the exact URL, and which competitors appeared, and repeat on a fixed schedule. It is slow, but it produces the same evidence chain a tool should.
How does Claude choose which sources to cite?
Anthropic's help centre says Claude uses web search for questions that benefit from current information and provides citations with search-grounded responses. It can also answer without web search. Record whether search was used and save the exact cited URLs; a Google position alone does not establish a Claude citation.
Is a Claude mention the same as a Claude citation?
No. Your brand can be named in Claude's answer without any link, and a link can point to a competitor's page. A useful tracker records named, cited and the exact URL separately. Tools that publish a single visibility score without that split cannot tell you which page to change.
Does Prime AI Visibility's free plan include Claude?
Yes. As of October 3, 2026, primeaivisibility.com lists the free Flash plan as 30 shared monthly credits, up to five buyer questions, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, with one completed check per calendar month. Gemini and the AI Overview-style preview are on paid plans.
